The Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) at Friendship United Methodist Church is an active group open to all youth 6th through 12th grade that focuses on a balance of worship, service, recreation and fellowship for young people in middle school and high school. The group meets every other Sunday during September through June from 6:30p to 8:00p to conduct business, plan activities and enjoy a time of fellowship.
The MYF participates in a variety of service activities, including Christmas in April and a babysitting night at the church during the Christmas holidays. The group also conducts a variety of fundraisers to support their work and their activities. The MYF’s main fundraiser each year is the Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner.
Recreational activites during recent years have included a white water rafting trip, ski trips and participation in Christian youth retreats.
Youth Grades 6-12 are invited to attend Youth Bible Discussion every other Sunday (alternating with regular Youth Group meeting) from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The gathering will consist of a video session from a companion DVD to “The Story”, activity and question and answer session. “The Story” is a curriculum filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance and redemption geared to help teens understand and experience the Bible more clearly through experiential learning. Please bring your Bible AND your questions about scripture or life experiences that you wish to discuss!
